GRUNDFOS – DIGITIZING ACCESS TO SAFE WATER

Grundfos is a leading global manufacturer and supplier of pumps and pumping systems, providing solutions to customers in the water supply, manufacturing, food, and beverage, and building services sectors. The company has a strong focus on sustainability and has over 60 years of experience in developing, selling, and servicing pumps.

Challenges

Grundfos’ challenge was to develop an innovative solution that would enable people in the world's poorest regions to access safe drinking water using only their mobile phones. The LIFELINK project required the development of software as well as the construction of the actual tapping unit. Grundfos needed a partner who could help them develop the prototype and pilot project quickly and efficiently.

Solution

DIS/CREADIS was chosen to help develop the pilot project and the first prototype of the innovative solution. DIS/CREADIS developed the prototype at their workshop, and the project was completed within a short and concentrated development period. The solution consisted of a Grundfos submersible pump powered by solar panels or wind turbines. The pumped water was stored in an elevated water tank and led by gravity to an automatic tapping unit. Users insert a smart card with a built-in chip in a slot at the water tapping unit to tap water. The water credits are pre-paid to the smart card via mobile phone banking.

Benefits

The solution provided by DIS/CREADIS resulted in significant benefits as the LIFELINK project provides those in some of the world’s poorest reason with access to safe drinking water using only their mobile phones, while contributing to Grundfos’ sustainable development goals.

Why DIS/CREADIS

DIS/CREADIS was chosen as a partner due to their knowledge of the industry, previous experience and expertise in engineering, project management, and production optimization. They were able to provide a competent and cost-optimized global team approach, ensuring that the project was completed on time and within budget.

SKY-LIGHT – NEW FLEXIBLE ROBOTIC PACKAGING PRODUCTION MACHINE DELIVERES INCREASED SAFETY FOR NEW PLANT

SKY-LIGHT, a film and packaging manufacturer, has invested in a new production plant that required an efficient and safe packaging system. The previous manual processes were not optimal in terms of the working environment and safety, and the new plant had to be able to handle rolls weighing between 200 kg and 1800 kg (441 lb. to 3968 lb.). This meant that the packaging system needed to be very flexible and capable of adjusting to nine different packing methods. SKY-LIGHT did not have the internal resources to develop this system, and so they contacted DIS/CREADIS to take over the development, construction, design, setup, assembly, and commissioning of the plant.
