When Siemens Wind Power contacted DIS with a request for dimensioning of lifting equipment, it was crucial that the task was to be completed fast without compromising with Siemens’ high quality standards.

When DIS was given the task they quickly set up a project group existing of constructors, estimators and project managers. The assignment was to dimension different fittings for lifting. Detailed FEM-models of each fitting were designed to verify their strength. In addition, weldings and bolts were controlled and tools for tension tests of the fittings were analyzed as well.

The project management was in this case the key to success. The thorough planning and a detailed schedule ensured that the two parts achieved the objective.
